Four types of cookie may be used during your visit to www.canada.travel (and other sites) :-

• Destination Canada session cookies that are deleted after each visit.
• Destination Canada persistent cookies are valid across visits and, for example, are used to avoid the need to tell us your country of residence at the start of each visit.
• Destination Canada email cookies which are set on your computer by an email from Destination Canada, but are accessed by Canada.travel when you use our site.
• Third party cookies that are used by our partners, for example, to help us measure site visitors.

Here is a list of all the cookies that Destination Canada sets and how we use them:

Cookie name: Session cookie
Purpose: Used to maintain your transaction with Destination Canada (expires within a 15 minute period.) Minimizes the need to transfer your information across the Internet

Cookie name: Canada.travel tracking cookie
Purpose: Used to recognize repeat visitors to the site and in conjunction with other information we hold to attempt to record specific browsing information (that is, about the way you arrive at the site, pages you view, options you select, information you enter and path you take through the site) against an individual customer profile.

Cookie name: Country choice cookie
Purpose: Used by Destination Canada to record your country of residence. Whilst it is not necessary for this cookie to be stored across visits to the site, it is necessary to have a cookie that tells the site which country's page to present to you. By storing this cookie across visits, it means that you don't have to tell us your country of residence at the start of each visit

Cookie name: Language choice cookie
Purpose: Used by Destination Canada to record your preferred language. Whilst it is not necessary for this cookie to be stored across visits to the site, it is necessary to have a cookie that tells the site which language to present to you. By storing this cookie across visits, it means that you don't have to tell us your preferred language at the start of each visit

Cookie name: Enrolment application cookie
Purpose: This cookie tracks the number of enrolments made by the same browser in a 24 hour period. This is used for security purposes.

Cookie name: Trade Extranet cookie (texcookie)
Purpose: Used for trade extranet purposes, storing the user's IATA or ABTA number together with the user's country choice. By storing this cookie across visits, it means that you don't have to tell us your IATA number at the start of each visit

Here is a list of some cookies that may be set by our business partners on Destination Canada Websites.

Partners: Google Analytics
Purpose: We use Google’s software to carry out statistical analysis of page use, page interactions and paths through www.canada.travel. This is known as 'web metrics'. We may also record certain information that customers provide during an on site purchase or other process, such as name or email. We also capture a customer identifier when registered e-newsletter subscribers log on to www.canada.travel.

This information allows us to identify customers and more accurately understand their individual behaviours and needs. This means that we can more easily tailor offers and information which may be of interest to individuals. We will only send marketing emails when customers have given us permission to do so. This information is not passed to third party companies for their use. Our digital marketing agency has access to this along with other Destination Canada data, to help increase the relevancy of our direct marketing.

You can request that we stop storing cookies on your computer, and that we don't set any more. Please be aware that if you decline the use cookies set by Destination Canada on www.canada.travel you will be unable to use the site. This limitation does not apply to cookies set by our business partners.
